TIP OF THE WEEK

 TIP OF THE WEEK

Need repositional tape to stick down those spellbinder dies or metal plates, so it doesn't mark you paper and cardstock when puting them through your cuttlebug machine.  Well if you are like me I'm always losing it.  So I found a solution.  I just use normal sticky tape, but I place it on and off my clothes I'm wearing so it will pick up some fibers, by doing this your tape is now repositional and will not stick to your card and paper.  This way you will always have tape.

Tip of the Week

Hi Everyone,

I thought because I have so much knowledge in my head after 25years in the industry, I want to share this information with you all.  So each week I will have Tip of the Week.  Some of you may know this information already, some may not.  I find any information helps us grow and most of the times I've already made the mistake before you all.  Hopefully I will try to post the tip on a Monday, so here goes the first one

TIP OF THE WEEK
Border Punching - When border punching I always use my centering ruler and find the centre and mark with a pencil 2" each side of my centre along the edge of the paper.  On the Martha Stewart punches you have marks along the top edge.  If the punch doesn't have marks along the top edge I make my own by using my centreing ruler.  Slide your centering ruler into the slot  where you would normally punch and make sure your punch is centred on your ruler.  I then mark with a permanent pen 2" either side along the top edge of my punch.  I then use these marks as a guide to match up my paper when punching.

Before you punch make sure your card or paper is cut to the correct size for your card or scrapbook page. When you are ready to punch you find the centre and mark 2" either side of the centre, slide paper into punch and match up either the line or your marks on your punch and punch the middle first, then punch either side out to your edges.  By following this you will always find your punched edge finishes in the pattern exactly the same both side edges.  By using this method you can also punch both sides of your card and it will match both sides as well.

Hope this helps you all when punching those edges now you can hopefully have it all matching.

If you have time leave a comment to let me know if I've helped you.

Canvas Sprayed Cards

 Hi Everyone,

Here are some more cards we created at our stamp weekend. One of the teachers guided us throught these cards.  We used distress embossing powder and sprays.  We sprayed the new mistable canvas shape butterfly, flowers, ribbon and lace, and stamped with clear embossing ink and embossed with distress embossing powder, the distress embossing powder gives that vintage effect, quite different from normal embossing powder.

New Tim Holts Distress Inks Pens

Hi Everyone,

I've been playing with the new Tim Holtz Distress Inks, just love them.  Above is coloured in on copic paper with outline stickers.  I used the brush tip for colouring the base.  Sometimes I have used more than one colour to give it depth.  Then I used the fine pen tip to create depth with fine lines.  These are now available in the shop or online for $5.00.  There are 36 colours and one white pens (finally a white pen).  I will make these up into cards, but I thought I would show you the raw product first.
The first image I applied the distress pens directly onto the stamp then stamped the image. The second image as there was still coloured left on the stamp and I sprayed with water and then stamped the image which gave the washed out water colour look.  You can continue stamping until there is no more colour left on the stamp.  I will also make these up into cards later.

As you can see I have used the pens in two totally different techniques.  There at still more ways I can use these pens and I will show you later.  Just ran out of time this weekend.

Card - Copic

Hi Everyone,

I'm so proud of my daughter who last year finished her Graphic Design course and was awarded the top prize on award night.  These are some of her black and white drawings she created during her course.  She is at present completing a university degree in relation to web and graphic designing.  We are very privilaged to have Rebecca as our teaching at the shop showing them how to use their copic pens, drawing and colouring classes on Saturdays.  Her next class is Saturday 19th May at 12-2pm class is nearly booked out so if you want to join us ring the shop on 55395188 to book.

Last month they learnt to colour animal skins and one of the skins they mastered was the crocodile skin.  They learnt to colour with a variety of colours as show up in the close up of the head.  If your looking to be shown to use your copics correctly Rebecca is the one to come to.  If we cannot find a stamp for what we want to teach you, Rebecca can draw it for us for classes.

Mask & Spray Stamped Cards

 Hi Everyone,

These are another set of cards we created taught by one of the teachers from our stamping weekend.  The shapes were created by spellbinder die cuts with paper.  We had distress reinkers sprays and stamped.  These cards are great with everyone enjoying making them.  I'm sure you all will have some sprays or reinkers to make your spray.  You can make a variety of shapes with your spellbinder die cuts to create your own stencils.  You can use both cut out and outlines to mask with.  So see what you can come up with and create some cards using this technique.

Products Used
Card -Bazzill
Stamps - Unknown
Accessories - Mini misters with water and dye reinkers, cuttlebug and spellbinder shapes.

Kanban Dressing Up Cards

Hi Everyone,

Had a wonderful weekend away with the girls from Women In Rubber, no not what you think, a rubber stamping group.  I have been going on their camps for the last 11 years and have been fortunate enough to be asked to teach on some occassions.  These are some of the cards I created they created from me.  I still have two more images to up load as I have to take the photos of them as they are easel cards.  I'm sure they enjoyed creating them.  I look forward to creating another set of cards for them next year.  I will have to start thinking now as they are all experienced card makers and I always want to do something different for them.  I will upload some of the other cards we created when I finally uppack my bags this week from the weekend.  Hopefully tomorrow.
